Worldwide / UFO witnessed in eastern China again
« Last post by Little Wolf on Yesterday at 01:53:59 PM »
What's with all the UFOs these days? It's been less than two months since a UFO (still unidentified) was spotted in Hangzhou, and now another one has appeared in Zhejiang province. A bright object was visible for at least three hours over the skies of Haiyan County.

A bright, unidentified flying object that was visible for at least three hours slowly moving to the west was witnessed over the skies in southwestern Haiyan County of eastern China’s Zhejiang Province on Aug. 31.

The unidentified flying object that constantly twinkled was not at a high altitude and was much larger and brighter than stars around it.

Many people witnessed the UFO at the scene that evening.

"I have no idea what it is," a witness said.

The reporter found that not only was the object itself very bright in the sky, but its reflection on the river was also very eye-catching. Many residents in Haiyan County also witnessed it.

Another witness said, "It looked quite big and it seemed that it was moving."

Another bright flickering dot appeared above the object and started to move toward the object slowly when residents were discussing the unidentified object. This flickering dot was visible for about 10 minutes and started to fly toward Haining City.

Two reporters from Haiyan's local TV station followed the twinkling object in a car moving toward Haining City and took relatively clear pictures after waiting for about an hour on the flight path of the object.

According to the picture, it was a round object that had shiny blue lights, and several other flickering objects were around it.

After a while, however, reporters found that the round object had seemingly become rectangular. The object gradually flew higher and finally disappeared at around 10 p.m. about three hours after its first appearance.

This was not the first UFO witnessed in eastern cities of China this year. On the evening of July 7, a fast-moving UFO with a long white tail appeared over the skies near Hangzhou International Airport in Zhejiang Province, and there were also red flickering dots on the white tail.

The UFO led to a three-hour blockade of the airport and about 20 flights were delayed. Later, departments and experts analyzed videos taken by witnesses, but no conclusion has been made so far.

So what are the chances this was a visit from aliens? At least one group of Chinese scientists thinks the possibility is high. Professor Wang Sichao of the Purple Mountain Observatory stated just days before the Zhejiang UFO appeared that "some UFOs appear to be extraterrestrial spacecraft that demonstrate anti-gravity capability and may be engaged in research activities."

This is the same Purple Mountain Observatory that had been studying the eclipse last year to film evidence of UFOs. In his speech, Wang Sichao expressed optimism for avoiding an Independence Day-style alien attack.

"If they are friendly to us," Sichao said, "we can promote the human beings' civilization through exchange and cooperation with them. If they are not, as long as we prepared for their invasion, we can beat them back on their weaknesses."

Planetary / Asteroid Strikes Colombia - American Media Buries It!
« Last post by Talamasca on Yesterday at 11:09:17 AM »
 Lucus & Floyd Anderson 09/06/2010 4:45PM

Such a colossal event, so little media coverage.

Around 3:10PM Sunday afternoon residents of Colombia were awestruck when the clear sky was cracked open by a massive fireball that exploded upon impact leaving a 300 foot wide crater and a lot of rattled nerves.

This is not the first time this year that an impact event has been underreported.

Colombia: 'Giant fireball' was a meteorite
Monday, 06 September 2010 07:56 Kirsten Begg

Colombian authorities confirmed that a "giant fireball" that fell from the sky in the Santander department, central Colombia, was a meteorite.

The Colombian media has been buzzing with eye witness accounts of the fireball, which caused a massive explosion at 3:15PM local time Sunday.

Andina.com reported that Bucaramanga Mayor Fernando Vargas confirmed that the phenomenon was a meteorite that left a crater 100 meters in diameter when it crashed into the earth in the San Joaquin municipality in Santander.

As I started writing this article the top story on CNN was "Dragon Con takes America by storm", on MSNBC the top story was "Obama assails GOP at Labor Day rally", and on FOX it was "Obama takes aim at economic woes - and GOP foes". I looked on each of their websites and not a peep about the impact event in Colombia.

When an object strikes the planet and leaves a huge crater, is it not worthy of western news coverage? Is this event not one of the BIGGER stories in recent times?

Did you know that an asteroid hit Mexico back in February and received no mainstream American media coverage? Here's a little snippet for you.

Reports are a bit sketchy right now, but apparently a bright flaming object was seen coming down about 100 miles northeast of Mexico City on Wednesday around 18:30 local time. There was a roar that was loud enough to shake buildings. Another news article is reporting a crater 30 meters in diameter was found.

UFO General Discussion / William Shatner Believes In Aliens
« Last post by Little Wolf on September 07, 2010, 01:02:23 PM »
Former "Star Trek" actor William Shatner says there's no doubt in his mind that aliens do exist.
"There is no doubt that there is life out there; the mathematics of it lead you to that absolute conclusion," the actor revealed to the Montreal Gazette. "In my mind, there is no doubt that the universe teems -- teems! -- with life in all its forms.”

William Shatner's revelation comes after his hosting duties on the new television series, "William Shatner's Weird or What?" In the Discovery Channel show, 79 year old Shatner explores the paranormal, medical flukes, and bizarre natural disasters.
William Shatner played Captain Kirk for years on "Star Trek," and he just now is beginning to believe in the existence of alien life. The more television channels such as Sci-Fi and Discovery explore the paranormal, the more believers will begin to be made.

You’d be amazed at how many famous people claim to have seen a UFO. Below we present just a small sample.

Actors Who Have Seen UFOs

Very appropriately there are stories that William Shatner, who played Captain James T. Kirk in the television series Star Trek, may have seen a UFO and perhaps even have been abducted by its occupants. Author Dennis William Hauck wrote an unauthorised and somewhat critical biography of Shatner, called Captain Quirk, in which he portrayed Shatner as an arrogant and unpleasant individual, disliked by his fellow members of the Star Trek cast. Hauck believes that Shatner had a life-changing experience, however, when he was abducted by aliens in the Mojave desert. Shatner was supposedly riding his motorcycle with some friends through the desert but somehow got separated from them. His bike broke down, and he walked for miles to find a petrol station. When he found one, he noticed that there was a flying saucer hovering over it. Then things started to get hazy and the good captain may have been taken aboard.

Hauck believes Shatner learnt some humility from the encounter, and became a better person as a result. Intriguingly, shortly after the incident is supposed to have taken place, Shatner released an album titled The Transformed Man. It consists mainly of cover songs - though songs is perhaps not the right word, because Shatner tends to intone rather than sing – with a distinct “spacey” theme. Hauck claims the release of the album was a covert message Shatner was sending to the aliens, and the message was “Lesson Learned.”

Comic legend Dan Aykroyd - of Ghostbusters fame – is fascinated by UFOs. He once hosted a television programme devoted to it and is known to support UFO research organisations such as MUFON (www.mufon.com). In the DVD Dan Aykroyd Unplugged, he speaks quite candidly about his views on the subject. Although he doesn’t claim to have seen a UFO himself, he thinks he may have spotted some Men in Black once, while on the phone to Britney Spears!
Another actor and comedian who had some ET experiences was Jackie Gleason – you may know him as the Sheriff in the Smokey and the Bandit films, or as the master pool-player Minnesota Fats in the Paul Newman classic The Hustler. Gleason was a good friend of U.S. President Richard Nixon and, one day, while the two were playing golf together, the subject of UFOs came up. Nixon said little at the time but, later that day; he took Gleason with him on a special visit to Homestead Air Force Base. There, Gleason allegedly witnessed dead extra-terrestrials. Gleason’s wife told the full story in an interview with Esquire magazine.

Politicians Who Have Seen UFOs
You wouldn’t expect many politicians to come clean about having seen a UFO. After all, it could damage their credibility. But, interestingly, quite a few have admitted it, including some prominent ones.
Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter says he saw a UFO while he was the Governor of Georgia. For about ten minutes, he and a group of others watched some weird lights in the sky that seemed to approach them then recede. Carter mentioned the sighting a few times on the campaign trail, and when he was sent a UFO sighting report by a research organisation, agreed to fill it out. While campaigning to become President, Carter promised to reveal all the U.S. government’s UFO secrets if he was elected. He was; but no secrets emerged.
Carter’s successor in the White House, Ronald Reagan, also allegedly saw a UFO while he was the Governor of California. Reagan was travelling in a small plane when he noticed a strange light which seemed to be following the aircraft. The light accelerated a little ahead and, at Reagan’s suggestion, his plane pursued it for a few minutes before it zoomed away vertically at tremendous speed.
Reagan developed an obsession with extra-terrestrials and mentioned them frequently in his speeches. Once, in a speech to the UN, he even said that the United States and the Soviet Union might be forced to make common cause if Earth faced an extra-terrestrial invasion.

Musicians who Have Seen UFOs
According to Michael Luckman, author of Alien Rock: The Rock and Roll Extra-terrestrial Connection, quite a few famous musicians have had UFO experiences.
Craggy-faced rocker Mick Jagger is said to have seen two UFOs in the course of his life. One, a cigar-shaped “mothership,” appeared in 1968 while he was camping in Glastonbury with then girlfriend Marianne Faithfull. The other allegedly hovered over the audience while he was performing a gig in California. If Michael Luckman is to be believed, Jagger even had a UFO detector installed in his home. Jagger couldn’t get no satisfaction, though, because it kept going off, whenever he wasn’t in the house!
John Lennon saw a UFO at his apartment in New York with his girlfriend May Pang. The object was cone-shaped, but flattened at the top, crowned with a steady red light, and featuring a row of smaller, pulsating white lights. It drew close to the amazed couple in their 17th floor apartment before passing on by. They managed to take some photographs of the object but all came out over-exposed.
UFOs seemed to pervade the life of Elvis Presley. Strange lights were seen in the sky at the time Elvis was born; quite a few were seen around him in his life; and one was allegedly seen hovering over the mourners when his coffin was interred in the grounds of Graceland. Some even speculate that perhaps The King himself was an extra-terrestrial - and not in the coffin at all, but looking down on it from above in the flying saucer!
Conclusion
As should now be clear, people from all walks of life, from drug-addled rock musicians to sombre politicians, claim to have seen mysterious objects in the sky. Some even developed a private obsession with ETs which, for the most part, was completely unknown to the general public.

Scientific / Another 5.2 earthquake shook New Zealand
« Last post by Little Wolf on September 07, 2010, 11:21:14 AM »
There are no reports of injury or damage after a magnitude 5.2 earthquake shook the Hawke's Bay area of New Zealand on Tuesday morning.

The 15km-deep quake struck about 20km southeast of Porangahau in the southern Hawke's Bay at 10.48am (0848 AEST), GNS Science said.

It was felt widely in the Hawke's Bay region, including Hastings and Napier.

The National Crisis Management Centre said local Civil Defence authorities reported no damage or injuries.

It would keep in close contact with local authorities and review the situation if needed.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre did not issue a tsunami alert after the quake.

People on the social networking site Facebook reported feeling the quake as far afield as Wellington, Manawatu and the Bay of Plenty.

The quake comes just days after a magnitude 7.1 quake devastated parts of Canterbury, including New Zealand's second largest city of Christchurch, and left hundreds without homes.

NSW / Re: House of Monte Cristo
« Last post by sharon on September 06, 2010, 12:06:05 PM »
This house has a tragic and violent history, with the owner dying from and infected carbuncle (grose I know), a couple of his children fell down the stair case and died, although I learnt that the nanny was responsible for dropping an infant off the stairs. His widow stayed in her room for the next 23 years, only venturing out of the beautiful 2 storey homestead since 1910.
Out tour guide told us stories of her presence still in her room and the fact that apparitions of her have been seen still. We ventured into every room of the homestead, some rooms quite active and others extremely active. Where the children are believe to have died on the stairs, an overwhelming sense of sadness came over us - not to mention chills - and I have never experienced this before, but in areas it seemed like something or someone did not want us on the next landing, it was if we were trying to force our way through some sort of force field.... it was weird.
We finally made our way up to the second floor to the sounds of someone walking along the wooden verandah floor, but our group were the only ones up there. We were all about to walk into Mrs. Crawley's room, when most of the tour group broke out in goose bumps and the rest of us had this message go through our minds - "get out"! If this was Mrs. Crawley she seemed a very aggressive spirit...almost felt like she was standing face to face with us bullying us to move out of her room.
The Boys room was another unpleasant room to walk into. I suddenly found it hard to breathe almost like I was running out of oxygen to breathe. Even now I don't fully understand what happened to me.
It took a good 3 hours to fully do the tour of the house...so to calm us down and talk about our experiences we all had a light supper before retiring to our rooms for the night. A thought that terriried us after hearing all the ghostly stories and experiences we had a short time ago. Not even my house is THIS active.
My friend and I shared a room ...the only way I was going to stay...I could have easily made the 5 hour drive home no problem. She was awakened around 4 am with the sensation of someone getting into bed with her. When she realised I was still fast alseep, but someone was still felt in the bed with her she let out this blood curdling scream that scared me half to death and woke everybody else up. Needless to say we never went back to bed, nor would she turn the light off.

Scientific / 7.0 magnitude quake shakes New Zealand
« Last post by Little Wolf on September 04, 2010, 08:51:04 AM »
A 7.0 magnitude earthquake has rocked New Zealand's second largest city Christchurch, causing injuries and widespread damage, including the collapse of some buildings and power outages, witnesses and the US geological survey say.

The Civil Defence ministry says the national crisis management centre has been activated.

"We've had a wide range of reports of some serious damage," a civil defence spokesman said.

Christchurch mayor Bob Parker said a state of emergency has been declared.

Although many people with minor injuries sought treatment, hospitals said there were no reports of any serious injuries although doctors were on standby because of the intensity of the quake and the damage to buildings.

The quake struck at a depth of 16.1km about 30km northwest of Christchurch at 4:35am (0235 AEST) on Saturday, the USGS said.

Roads in the seaside suburbs were packed with cars as residents moved inland but there were no tsunami alerts issued.

Aftershocks are ongoing and police say damage is widespread throughout Christchurch, with electricity supplies cut to about half of the city of about 340,000.

Sewer lines were damaged and residents are being urged to conserve water supplies.

Local resident Colleen Simpson told the Stuff website that many people had run out onto the streets in fear, while the mobile phone network was failing.

"Oh my God. There is a row of shops completely demolished right in front of me," Simpson said.

Kevin O'Hanlon, from Mairehau in Christchurch, said: "Just unbelievable. I was awake to go to work and then just heard this massive noise and, boom, it was like the house got hit. It just started shaking. I've never felt anything like it."

The damage included structural harm to houses, broken glass and damaged bridges and vehicles.

John Ristau, a seismologist at the government's GeoNet geological monitoring service, said the intensity was strong enough to cause structural damage to buildings.

"It would most probably be the weaker buildings that have major damage to them," he said.

An aftershock of magnitude 5.7 was felt at 4:53am (0253 AEST), the USGS said, while local media said a series of shocks continued to roll across the city.

The quake was felt through much of New Zealand's South Island where Christchurch is located on its east coast, local media said.

Christchurch International Airport, the main international gateway to the South Island, has been closed and rail movement in the South Island has been stopped while facilities are checked.

The magnitude was revised downwards from an initial estimate of 7.4, the USGS said.

Although there was no evidence of a tsunami, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre said an earthquake of this magnitude could generate a local tsunami.

"Earthquakes of this size sometimes generate local tsunamis that can be destructive along coasts located within a hundred kilometres of the earthquake epicentre," the centre said.

"Authorities in the region of the epicentre should be aware of this possibility and take appropriate action."
